This week we are talking about a lot of things. But, most importantly, being bothered or in my case unbothered. Whether it's at work or abroad, I want to live my life in such a way I don't have to worry about the petty things that we each encounter each day. We are also talking about, in our Glitter and the Geek segment,... THE DEFENDERS!! I have discovered some new music that I am choosing as my anthems currently from SZA and Cardi B.. Listen In!!

Get Out!!
By now, if you haven't seen the movie Get Out, you must have surely heard about it. The racially tinged social experiment written, produced and directed by the hilarious Jordan Peele, has taken movie goers on a wild ride. Some call it racist. Some call it bizarre. I call it a solid movie with interesting societal mores on race and the races in America. This week as we finally break from our Podcast hiatus. I talk about my feelings on the movie. I also share a very cool article I found on the verysmartbrothas.com website that pokes fun at white and black friendships. I round out this week's discussion with some nerd chat with a mini Logan review and Wonder Woman trailer reaction.

Seeing Is Believing?
Seeing isn't always believable when you are seen somewhere someone thinks you shouldn't be. And this week we talk about it on our The 5by5 Podcast. If you are grown and have no one to answer to but yourself, why should you or anyone care if they have seen you somewhere they think you should have not been. Also, Can you really have a twitter war with someone if they do not respond to you? Lastly, I hate caskets and dead people. I hate even more when they show up in photos on social media. But, this new way to memorialize your deceased loved one has thrown me for a loop. I mean I turned about seven cartwheels trying to get the images out of my head. What is it you say? What can make a fat boy do gymnastics? THEME FUNERALS!! Yes, a small but growing number of funeral homes are offering to display your loved one in a scene from their life. #SideEye.. Listen to all of the messy details on this week's "Didn't I See You?" episode of The 5by5 Podcast.

She Said What?
On an shade filled episode of Watch What Happens Live, Sunday Night, Vivica A Fox dropped a hip hop bombshell that exploded in her face. The Kill Bill actress insinuated that rapper 50 Cents had "some things that aren't clear" concerning his sexuality. Twitter exploded and other bombshells and digs were exchanged between her, Fifty and Soldier Boy. Check out the latest podcast to find out all the drama. Also, Starbuck's "Red Cup-Gate" continues. Empire's Gaby is too booked to be fat shamed. And, I took my mom on a date.

Spread'em
I had no idea that this was a thing until I read a few articles that were talking about it. I guess if you do not want anyone sitting next to you on a bus or train and you spread your legs out to accomplish that goal YOU WILL BE ARRESTED. Who knew? Also, in this episode of The 5by5 Podcast, I talk about my car being vandalized and shenanigans at the car dealership.

It's Not Right...
It has been a difficult week. I have had to make decisions that affect the podcast. And I have made the decision to make this journey alone. I had to address some things that were said against my character. I may not have much but I do have integrity. And I will not have anyone challenge it. So, part of tonight's podcast is dedicated to explaining how I was misunderstood. But, also, with much sadness.Since I think certain statements cannot be taken back. I have to move away from the current format of The 5by5 Podcast. So listen for a new schedule and content. I am needing a new name for my Tuesday night show too. I also chatted about the Marvel Cinematic Universe announcement and why Honey Boo Boo was fired from TLC.

Shady Business
If you ever have listened to a Real Talk w/ David & Nikki podcast you know we deliver a fair amount of SHADE at times. Now, with the addition of my friend Ken Boggle it's even shadier. Or maybe it's just me. Maybe they bring out the shadiness in me. LOL But, on this week's podcast I asked the guys to bring their own topics. I don't know if that was a mistake or not. But, it was a hilarious good time. I chose for my topic Social Media Shade (go figure). Nikki, our resident purple muse, asked us "How Do We Experience Music?" and Ken kept it all the way real on his topic of "Immigration". The result from all three was pretty funny. So, check out the latest collaborative effort from the gang and you might be saying to yourself
"That's So Shady!!"

Doing The Dew
I thought I had kicked my soft drink addiction. I was doing so good. I had been drinking a ton of water. I fell in love with the Sparkling Ice flavored water. It was going to be my "chantix" for soda addiction. But, those tricky people at Mtn Dew had other plans for my pancreas. They released a bottled version of the Taco Bell exclusive Baja Blast. I sort of knew that it was happening, but since I was content on drinking my water I didn't give it much thought. And since I knew that I wasn't really eating at the taco chain anymore and my craving for my most favorite Mtn Dew (to date) was only sold in the restaurant. I thought I was okay. Until I seen it at a local convenience store and all my willpower sort of just went away. And now I am back on The Mountain Dew Juice.... Curses!! Also, on this episode of The 5by5 podcast I share my views on giving your kids realistic names. Unlike the silly woman (who lives locally) who named her child after Walmart of all places. #sideeye

Dear Abby.. I love You!
The above picture was taken from a Dear Abby article from a homophobic couple. Dear Abby responds and lays some knowledge to the couple in her response. They Tried It
A funny show tonight.. I was a little all over the place with the conversation. I talked about making a Paula Deen inspired chicken dinner for my family. And I shared the Samuel L Jackson vs Sam Rubin audio. That was funny. I also talked about how the state of Kansas House Of Representative approved a bill that would discriminate against the homosexual community. and how a mother chastised gay parents for inviting her son to their daughter's birthday party. I mean they all TRIED IT.. TeamTooMuch

Do You Have An Accent?
I used to obsess about my accent. Only to find out I didn't have one. In the back of my mind I kind of figured that one out. But, I live an area where accents go from extreme hickerbilly to ghetto fabulous in the span of a 20 mile radius. Tonight, I put my mind at ease as I took the Which American Accent Do You Have? quiz from www.youthink.com 's website. And my curiosity was pretty much spot on.

Mad Man-Hood and Accidental Racism(t)

A Daily Beast insider shared that even the promotional pictures and posters needed to be air-brushed so not to offend anyone. (see their story here) But, you know the paparazzi always gets their man or manhood in this case. And while on a shopping trip with his girlfriend they captured Jon's, not so elusive, trouser snake.

My advice to John is to wear underwear or wear a jock. Yeah, it sucks to be all objectified by the public. But, like he agreed I guess it's better to be called out for this rather than the opposite. You got the right!
Did you know Jon was on Sesame Street? If you close your eyes and listen to the video, this whole large penis thing makes this video hilarious.

Switching gears from accidental exposure to the latest song by Brad Paisley ft. LL Cool J, Accidental Racist. Ain't that a title! Everyone in the blogosphere has been blogging, tweeting and posting about this song. The whole country rap duo thing didn't appeal to me at first, but after all the hoopla I had to hear it. I must say it's different. And at times a little comical. I know this is a conversation that has to be had between the black and white races. But, I don't think this was the way it should have been delivered. All I can say is, it was an effort. Notice I didn't say a good one. I mean lyrics like "Dear Mr. White Man, I wish you understood. What the world is really like when you're livin' in the hood. Just because my pants are saggin' doesn't mean I'm up to no good", Isn't some of LL's best work.
I am okay with people having their own perspective. But, some of the words in the song don't even apply to my world. Have I been a victim of racism? Yes. Have I had my own preconceived notions about someone who wore a rebel t-shirt? Yes, I have. To me this song exploits some of the stereotypes in today's world pertaining to black people. Sagging Jeans.. Gold Chains.. etc.. Because in my world, I do not wear sagging jeans nor do I have fat gold chains around my neck. I doubt we will be hearing this in any of the hip hop clubs or boot scoot and bogeying to it at the next square dance. If it was attention that these two artist wanted, although they didn't need it, they definitely found what they were looking for. Too bad it's left a sour taste in most mouths and ears.
You can here the entire song below. Mess!!!
We will be talking about this blog and going over it on Monday April 22, 2013 @1:30pm on our Blog Talk Radio Show. Call into the show and tell me what you think. 914-803-4988
