San Diego Comic Con 2017 Day 1

Once again we are at San Diego Comic Con.  Up at 4:30am in the morning for a chance at autographs, exclusives and to get onto the showroom floor early. This year's Hilton Baymont building wrap is FX's Legion.  We wait until the sun begins to rise on all of the early morning con goers.  Nervous electricity is in the air as the line begins to move toward the convention center. We are probably 1000th in line and that's a good spot.  After a few hours we are finally in the convention center.  We are directed to lines for WB, Funko, FOX, Lego and Hasbro.

We chose FOX so we can get Legion autographs.  We find out that FOX is notoriously late and we wait 2+ hours and end up with 2 Ghosted (new show) tickets because the Legion tickets have just ran out.  Mind you this is for a chance nothing is guaranteed no matter how long you are in line if you do not win your autograph tickets you can either get back in line and try again or just forget it.  But, in our case, the comic con gods showed favor when another autograph ticket winner wanted my Ghosted ticket in exchange for a Legion ticket.. HAPPY DAY HAPPY DAY... It is an autograph win for day 1.. We (my niece and I) went to our respective autograph sessions (and waited) for our autograph signing sessions.  We seen the cast of The Strain while waiting for our sessions

SDCC and Me Part 1

I thought it never could be possible.  Me, attending the Con to Conquer all Cons, the big one, the predecessor, the one and only SAN DIEGO COMIC CON!!

Well, that possibility turned into reality last weekend as I attended for the 1st time ever SDCC. It was a trip that was made permanent in February as friends of mine obtained the holy grail of tickets.  With 900,000 people clamored for the elusive tickets, I was able to get 2.

It would be a trip full of first.  My first official family vacation where I was joined by my niece, nephew and sister.  Also, it was the first time any of us had seen the west coast or the ocean even. Lastly, it was the first time for me to take to the skies, not as a superhero, but as a passenger on United Airlines.  I also was able to conquer my fear of flying.

On Wednesday, we drove to St. Louis with visions of geekdom in our heads and thoughts of our mother in our hearts.  But, determined to make it to the our destination we pushed on and pushed all worry out of our heads. I had heard horror stories about going into airports and getting through TSA and finding the correct gates to catch your flight.  But, the process seemed easier than I expected.  With phone and United Airlines app in hand the journey began after being checked through St. Louis' Lamber Airport and waiting a few hours we were on the plane and up in the air.

Arriving in San Francisco, we were greeted at the baggage claim by Conan advertisements adorning everything.  And we were officially in San Diego awaiting to start our adventure.

Mike & Ming

It finally happened.  I met Mike Zapcic and Ming Chen from AMC's Comic Book Men this weekend at our hometown comic book convention, Pop!Con. They were very welcoming and completely hilarious. I enjoyed the few times I was able to chat with them and they even gave me an interview and a intro for The5by5 Podcast. Check out some video from their panel (one of the best I have ever been in) and look for the podcast, with the interview, this week!!

Tri It Again

Although, you probably will not believe me.  But, I really do not like being shady. Unless, someone or thing gives me a good reason.  I honestly went in to attending this last Comic Convention with an open mind.  For god's sake, I even purchased a VIP ticket because I forgot to apply for a press pass.  So, I was fully vested in "wanting" to have a fun experience.  Boy was I let down.  Listen in for my latest review of a Comic Book Convention that didn't have any comic books.. sigh...

Dragon Con Tales

I was very excited to be going back to Atlanta to attend their Annual nerd gathering, Dragon Con. I had never attended this event even though I had previously lived in Atlanta for many years.  But, that is probably the only thing nice I have to say about the event.  Check out this week's podcast for my review of Dragon Con.
