Liar Liar Pants on Fire!

It was a
Real Talk with Day and Nikki
night on The 5by5 and it was a lot of fun. Nikki and I both reside in Indiana so we have been getting our fair share of the snow this winter and we are both over it.  It's cold, wet and icy and I could careless if we had a white Christmas or not this year. We also gave a shout out in memory of  Nelson Mandela and his legacy that he leaves the world.  I sing Happy Birthday to Nikki while she wishes Happy Birthday to Raven Symone. Finally we get to our topic of lying as we discuss the events surrounding Dayna Morales.  We then ask the question.  When is it appropriate to lie? Listen for our answers to that question and a whole lot more.

You're Cool For A Gay Guy

I read a very funny article this morning and I just had to share my thoughts. It was called "5 Things You Should Never Say To A Gay Man" by Ryan O'Connell.  (article here)

He goes through his list of things that straight people say to gay men and lesbians that are not only ridiculous but, kind of, funny.  I give my spin on each of his THINGS-NOT-TO-SAY.
My favorite was No.5 , which is the same as the title of this blog.  "You're cool for a gay guy", maybe offensive to some.  But, I embrace it as I share my own story about my encounters with the phrase.  I think if approached the right way we can break down negative stereotypes that make some say this to us.
Thanks for tuning in!!

Check out yesterday's episode below if you missed it

Gay Speech, A Not To Do List?

I ran across an article on The Huffington Post by Mark Brennan Rosenberg.  The article was about the 8 Things Gay Men Need To Stop saying. (read article here)
Love and pride Fashion
I found the article kind of funny, a bit interesting and sort of redundant at times.  So, I took to the air waves to share my thoughts on what Mr. Rosenberg wrote. And here is what I came up with:

National Coming Out Day!!

October 11, 2013 is National Coming Out Day.
NCOD was founded in 1988 by Robert Eichberg, a psychologist from New Mexico and founder of the personal growth workshop, The Experience, and Jean O'Leary, an openly gay political leader from Los Angeles and then head of the National Gay Rights Advocates.[2][3] The date of October 11 was chosen because it was the anniversary of the 1987 National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights.[1] (wikipedia)
My story was a difficult one.  I was dating a married man until his wife found out.  Some what ostracised by the gay community for being involved with a married man.  But, no one understood my personal struggle. But when my family embraced me for who I was not who I chose to sleep with. I forgot about society and concentrated on growing into the man (gay) that I am today.  Take a listen to my full story below.
