Con Season Kick-Off

We finally kick off our Comic Convention season with a Con that we had never attended.  So, it was off to Lexington, Ky with friends and family to start off our Convention Season with a bang. The line up was appealing with guest like James Marsters, Elisa Dushku, Skottie Young, Kellita Smith and others. I had heard about this Convention for a few years.  But, I was surprised at the quality of guest and comic creators were in attendance.  A lot of Conventions have some pretense that is some what off putting.  But, not LexCon.  The guest were comfortable and easy to chat with and the attendees were nice and laid back.  Maybe, it's the Kentucky Bourbon that has everyone so mellow.  We made friends with con goers and guest alike.  I was able to score some autographs and photo ops with relative ease.  Sometimes, when you go to these types of pop culture conventions you get swallowed by the money making machine in which other conventions operate.  This will be a convention that will permanently go on our calendar every year.  Check out some pictures and check back for a podcast review on this amazing con.

Black Superheroes

In honor of  Black History Month and the revival of Fan Boy Weekly, I thought I would pay homage to my favorite black superheroes.  I have been a comic book fan practically all of my life.  But, the one thing that I missed as a kid that I am finally getting to see as an adult is superheroes that look like me.  I am happy that Marvel is utilizing more and more black characters in their live action comic book movies. Nick Fury, Storm and War Machine are the three we know from the movies.  But, this spring here comes Falcon and Bishop as new black superhero players in the game.  And I couldn't be more pleased. I bet you do not know who was the first black superhero in the comics?  Now, if Tyler Perry could get the rights to make a Black Panther Film I would probably find away to be  part of it. 

 I also share my views on Justice League War.  And I get everyone up to speed on Arrow, Agents of Shield and The Coven Finale. Whew, a lot on today's Fan Boy Weekly Podcast.
